Some things that have an effect on your local connection and speed are programs that could be running on your computers in your home network. Some of these programs might be checking for updates, such as Windows and Anti-virus programs. Other programs are chat programs, weather programs, audio programs, file sharing programs, network programs, and many others and each can be using a little piece of your internet bandwidth. As the number of programs grow the less bandwith one will have for email or web surfing.
As one uses a computer there are new items installed from the Internet that can also degrade the computers performance. A program that could help clean some of the unwanted internet material from your computer is a program called Ad-aware located at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/. Please visit their site to find more information about the product. Epic Touch is not associated with or responsible for any harmful actions this software could cause.
We do monitor the main connection to the Internet. Some of the items out of our control are the remote site, amount of Internet traffic outside of our network, the route it took to get to the remote site and something on that route that contributes to the problem. With more people using broadband connections and the popularity of file sharing programs for music and video there is more of a load on the Internet than in previous years.
The Terms of Service Agreement, located at http://www.elkhart.com/TOS.htm, describes processes and procedures used to allow customers a more enjoyable Internet experience
There are some actions that can be done to make sure your TurboNET Internet connection is working properly.
This includes the following
1. Power-cycle* your router (if you are using one.) 2. Reboot any computers connected to your home network or Epic Touch Internet service.
*To power-cycle the TurboNET modem or router you will need to unplug the power cable from the back of the device, wait ten seconds, and then plug it back in.
After you have done these steps and you still feel that your speed is slower than the service package you are subscribed to, then you can test your connection speed.
